“The entire ceremony was so super special for me. It was perfect and exactly what I hoped it would be – emotional, heartfelt, and so funny. I LOVE the photo of me kissing Justin after our vows but before we were ‘supposed’ to kiss. Oh, and the robot dance during the reception! That was crazy!!! I have never in our 6 years together seem him do ANYTHING like that before. I will remember that performance for the rest of my life! : )

The wedding images are seriously, amazing.  I can’t come up with any other words.  I had imagined they would be good…I mean, I have been stalking your website for over a year now and I have seen what you can do!  But it is such a different experience to see those perfect pictures and have them be of MY wedding. With all MY friends and family and of ME and my new husband!  I couldn’t have asked for anything more…”

Mike + Andy : : Davis Street Tavern Wedding http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/2011/12/23/mike-andy-davis-street-tavern-wedding/ http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/2011/12/23/mike-andy-davis-street-tavern-wedding/#comments Fri, 23 Dec 2011 23:01:40 +0000 admin http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/?p=2523 Mike and Andy are the kind of couple where you feel their energy for life and passion for each other with every moment you spend with them. Andy has an incredibly infectious laugh and was smiling ear to ear the entire day. Her and Mike were incredibly happy to be tying the knot on a misty day in Portland and they couldn’t wait to celebrate their union with their family and friends.

Andy got dressed and ready at the Monaco Hotel in downtown Portland with her mom and sister by her side. The ceremony where Mike and Andy exchanged vows was held at the St. Agatha Church. Andy teaches at the St. Agatha school across the street and many of her students and their families were in attendance at their wedding, making it extra special and personal. Afterwards, there was a big party at the Davis Street Tavern in the Pearl district, complete with a full table spread of donuts and cookies from local bakeries, toasts by Mike and Andy’s closest friends and family, and a homemade playlist, concocted by guest suggestions on their wedding website.

We loved being a part of this celebration. Cheers Mike and Andy!

Brady + Sarah : : The Resort at the Mountain http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/2011/12/14/brady-sarah-the-resort-at-the-mountain/ http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/2011/12/14/brady-sarah-the-resort-at-the-mountain/#comments Wed, 14 Dec 2011 21:57:45 +0000 admin http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/?p=2391 A personal note from the bride on some of the most touching moments of her wedding day:

“I know for both of us, our first look was a bundle of excitement, relief, and awe. Up until that point I was stressing out about my mom getting ready, simple details that seemed important at the time,  getting dressed, looking okay… I was just ready to see him… and once I saw him standing there, everything fell into place and the details didn’t matter so much anymore. When he turned and gave me that look and kissed me, I really never felt more beautiful and more at home and at peace then that moment.

And  seeing my grandmother. She is the only grandparent I have left, and she means the world to me. My Grammie’s face and beautiful smile that day when she saw me, made me tear up for the first time that day. I feel very blessed that I have these pictures that will remind me of how happy and beautiful she looked. After all a picture is worth a thousand words, and you guys nailed it.”

Pedal Powered Talk Show http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/2011/12/14/pedal-powered-talk-show/ http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/2011/12/14/pedal-powered-talk-show/#comments Wed, 14 Dec 2011 18:25:04 +0000 admin http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/?p=2443 I recently sat down for an interview with a correspondent from Pedal Powered Talk Show to talk about how it is being their official photographer – interview below:

How did you get involved with The Pedal Powered Talk Show?

Well Boaz and I go back a few years ago when I was covering his kick off for the UnRoad Trip. Which was him trotting around the country using any mode of transportation but a gas powered car. As you can imagine the modes of transportation  were creative and it lead to some enriching photos.

Since then, Boaz and I have become fast friends and we’ve been collaborating on creative ideas ever since.  He came up with this idea about starting a mobile talk show where he could bike up to guests and conduct interviews–recently we’ve made that idea a reality and I have been photographing the process every step of the way.

Had you ever photographed a TV show before? Was there anything that surprised you about the process?

I haven’t but I’ve always known there to be photographers for big shows. It’s really exciting and fun. I have always loved being on sets–the hard work and what it takes to make everything come together is really fascinating.

Still frames really capture a whole different aspect of a show and personalities that you can’t capture with a video camera. I really enjoy shooting wide shots and quiet behind the scenes moments. I also love capturing reactions of the guests.

I realize my photos won’t necessarily make it on the show and that’s not what it’s about.  It’s more about documenting the process.

The Pedal Powered Talk Show is constantly filming in new and strange locations. Were any especially fun to shoot or more difficult to shoot?

Yes, we have filmed in some not so typical locations and that makes it fun.  The Daniel Baldwin episode where we were filming on rooftop in downtown Portland was pretty cool.

I wouldn’t say any were too difficult to photograph. Lighting can always be a challenge but I like challenges.

Who would be your dream guest for the show? And where would be the perfect location to film it?

Well we kind of have a running thing going around set that we would love Zooey Deschanel to be a guest–Boaz and her have some unfinished business.

I would really love to have Ann Curry. She’s super cool, a photographer, a great journalist and above all an Oregonian! And can you imagine us biking up to Studio 1A in Rockefeller Plaza–ha!

What’s it like to work with Boaz? Is he really as strange as he seems?

I am LOL’ing right now!–wait would that be like laugh out louding?  Anyway.  Yeah, Boaz, strange…I am mean, dude, the guy collects Kazoos.

I love being around creative people and he is one of the most creative guys I’ve met.  And he makes it happen.  It’s pretty inspiring.  I’m just happy to be a part of this crazy adventure.

I can’t wait for their wedding. Cheers guys.

Alex + Kim – Hilton Hotel, Portland http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/2011/11/15/alex-kim-hilton-hotel-portland/ http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/2011/11/15/alex-kim-hilton-hotel-portland/#comments Tue, 15 Nov 2011 19:44:42 +0000 admin http://danielstarkphotography.com/blog/?p=2332 Kim and Alex are high school sweethearts and have been dating for over 10 years before getting tying the knot. Throughout the entire day we spent with them and their families, it was evident how well these two know each other and how ready they were to take this next step in their lives together.  During the tea ceremony, we caught them whispering to each other, exchanging quick smiles and holding hands through what was a very important and special moment for both families. It’s honor to be a part of a tradition that goes back many generations and we relished the opportunity to document it.

After the tea ceremony at the bride’s home and a full wedding at Holy Redeemer, the reception got rocking at the Hilton in downtown Portland. Complete with a candy table, photobooth and a karaoke machine, it was obvious that Kim and Alex really know how to throw a party. Kim changed from her beautiful ball gown style wedding dress to the traditional Vietnamese attire for a bride as they greeted guests and friends who had some surprise games for the newlyweds. Then Kim did another quick wardrobe change and when we saw her hot pink party dress with gold stilettos, we knew it was going to be a true dance party. We had a blast with Kim, Alex and their entire family, who treated us like family.
