A personal note from the bride on some of the most touching moments of her wedding day:

“I know for both of us, our first look was a bundle of excitement, relief, and awe. Up until that point I was stressing out about my mom getting ready, simple details that seemed important at the time,  getting dressed, looking okay… I was just ready to see him… and once I saw him standing there, everything fell into place and the details didn’t matter so much anymore. When he turned and gave me that look and kissed me, I really never felt more beautiful and more at home and at peace then that moment.

And  seeing my grandmother. She is the only grandparent I have left, and she means the world to me. My Grammie’s face and beautiful smile that day when she saw me, made me tear up for the first time that day. I feel very blessed that I have these pictures that will remind me of how happy and beautiful she looked. After all a picture is worth a thousand words, and you guys nailed it.”

Pedal Powered Talk Show

open post

I recently sat down for an interview with a correspondent from Pedal Powered Talk Show to talk about how it is being their official photographer – interview below:

How did you get involved with The Pedal Powered Talk Show?

Well Boaz and I go back a few years ago when I was covering his kick off for the UnRoad Trip. Which was him trotting around the country using any mode of transportation but a gas powered car. As you can imagine the modes of transportation  were creative and it lead to some enriching photos.

Since then, Boaz and I have become fast friends and we’ve been collaborating on creative ideas ever since.  He came up with this idea about starting a mobile talk show where he could bike up to guests and conduct interviews–recently we’ve made that idea a reality and I have been photographing the process every step of the way.

Had you ever photographed a TV show before? Was there anything that surprised you about the process?

I haven’t but I’ve always known there to be photographers for big shows. It’s really exciting and fun. I have always loved being on sets–the hard work and what it takes to make everything come together is really fascinating.

Still frames really capture a whole different aspect of a show and personalities that you can’t capture with a video camera. I really enjoy shooting wide shots and quiet behind the scenes moments. I also love capturing reactions of the guests.

I realize my photos won’t necessarily make it on the show and that’s not what it’s about.  It’s more about documenting the process.

The Pedal Powered Talk Show is constantly filming in new and strange locations. Were any especially fun to shoot or more difficult to shoot?

Yes, we have filmed in some not so typical locations and that makes it fun.  The Daniel Baldwin episode where we were filming on rooftop in downtown Portland was pretty cool.

I wouldn’t say any were too difficult to photograph. Lighting can always be a challenge but I like challenges.

Who would be your dream guest for the show? And where would be the perfect location to film it?

Well we kind of have a running thing going around set that we would love Zooey Deschanel to be a guest–Boaz and her have some unfinished business.

I would really love to have Ann Curry. She’s super cool, a photographer, a great journalist and above all an Oregonian! And can you imagine us biking up to Studio 1A in Rockefeller Plaza–ha!

What’s it like to work with Boaz? Is he really as strange as he seems?

I am LOL’ing right now!–wait would that be like laugh out louding?  Anyway.  Yeah, Boaz, strange…I am mean, dude, the guy collects Kazoos.

I love being around creative people and he is one of the most creative guys I’ve met.  And he makes it happen.  It’s pretty inspiring.  I’m just happy to be a part of this crazy adventure.

Emily and Steve just moved away from Portland to start a new adventure in Southern Oregon.  So when we scheduled their engagement shoot we made sure to do it in their favorite area of Portland, the Pearl district.  I had a blast photographing them and after the shoot we had a couple of beers and chatted like old friends. I can’t wait for their wedding. Cheers guys.
